Coloring Eggs

"Coloring Eggs" - Photos by Naomi Thomson, 2011

Family traditions:  Newspaper, hard boiled eggs, food coloring, and crayons.  And then candy.  Lots of candy.

Crocus

"Crocus" - Captured by Naomi Thomson, 2012

My first thought when I look at this picture is, "Beautiful!"  And then I remember how I must've looked taking this picture, chin in the mud, right down on the ground... So my second thought is "*smirk*."

Grape Hyacinth

"Grape Hyacinth" - Captured by Naomi Thomson, 2012

Meet the favorite flower of my toddlerhood.  Yes, I used to pick these out of my mothers garden and smell them till then bent over backwards, breathing their last breath.  They still make me smile.  :)

Toronto

This past week I went to visit a good friend in Toronto.  'Twas very peaceful; we talked, walked, ice skated, baked, drank tea, took pictures of our distorted reflections in the teapot... Hehe.  :-[|)  We also watched some great movies.

I also got to meet a bunch of cool people, walk through the city a good deal, and connect with another friend while I was there.

Good times.

Farewell for now, Toronto.

Puddle

"Puddle" - Captured by Naomi Thomson, 2012

Apparently I used to tell my little brother there were alligators in the puddles.  And he believed me.  Crazy kid.  ;)

Forget Me Not

"Forget Me Not" - Captured by Naomi Thomson, 2012

Forget Me Nots will always remind me of my Oma, who loved flowers, and who gave me a package these seeds while visiting my family a long time ago...  My flowers never grew, likely because I was an 8-year-old with no experience, and I planted them in a pot of pure, clean sand.  Hehe, but I loved that package of seeds, and sand or no sand, I planted them with great care.

I found a Forget Me Not in our garden last summer... I didn't even know we had them.  This picture makes me smile; and it reminds me that I've not forgotten that special gift.

Signs of Spring

I love finding crocuses in the back yard.  It seems like it always happens on a particularly muddy, kind of hum-drum day, too.  You're cold, the day seems kind of gloomy, and then you find these bright little faces peering out of the ground...  :)

Who knew there was so much detail in a drop of rain?

Peony Bud

"Peony Buds" - Captured by Naomi Thomson, 2012

Did you know that the peonies need the ants to bloom?  I didn't.  Until I showed this picture to my garden-savvy aunt.  Cool.  :)

Subscribe by Email to China Blue

Hey guys!

Just a note to say, I just realized that my old photo blog still had its name in the email subscription link, so any subscriptions to China Blue would have been for a blog that no longer exists.  If you have subscribed to China Blue in the last 10 days, I hope you see this... :-P  And I would ask, if you would kindly subscribe again, that would be fantastic. No pressure or anything.  But you know.  ;)

To subscribe by email, scroll down, and there is a link titled "Follow by Email" on the bottom right corner of this page.  The rest is self-explanatory.

Sorry about this!  Thanks for understanding-- and more, for subscribing!  :)

Drip, Drop

"Drip, Drop" - Captured by Naomi Thomson, 2012

I love the rain.  Taking this picture meant walking around outside in my red rubber boots, snapping photos of rain drops on the tips of leaves and listening to the rain getting caught in the trees.

The air is so fresh after a good rain... I can't get enough of it.  Glad rain is in the forecast for various times during the rest of my life; I hope I always love it the way I do now.

China Blue

Hi there.  My name is Naomi, and I love pictures.  I have a great camera, which I often think I don't deserve... Except that I love it, so I guess I might a little bit.  ;)

This blog is for all of my favorite pictures.  Because, I think, they ought to be enjoyed if they *possibly* can!  I am a self-proclaimed photographer with no formal training; just the experience of the pictures on this blog.

I hope these pictures inspire you as much as they do me. Thanks for stopping in, and I hope this blog sees you back, many times in the future.

Back soon!
